We build cost effective super energy efficient homes with high quality finishes, tremendous attention to detail and superior “future proof” floor plans.
These factors combined to help us win the 2016 Parade of New Homes “Best Home” award for our 1,640 sq. ft. “Avondale” model.
The company was founded in the year 2000 as McFarland Construction and was rebranded in 2016 to Emax Residential which better reflects our focus on maximizing energy efficiency and ecological awareness.
We have built over 150 homes in Kingston, Amherstview and Bath, both subdivision and custom homes.
Our current focus is in the Bath area where we have the last marina subdivision 50’ cul de sac lots in Edgewater Estates. Starting in 2017, we will be the exclusive builder in the “Lakeview” subdivision, also in Bath, being developed by our sister company Emax Developments.
Walter Abicht is the owner of the company and grew up in the construction industry. He has a lifetime of practical and theoretical experience in residential and commercial construction.
Walter has always had a keen interest in environmental and energy efficiency having taken the R2000 home builder certification when the program was first started many years ago. He was also the project manager for one of 3 prototype C2000 (commercial) buildings built in the 1995.
Walter completed his MBA at Queen’s University in 1990 and this has been invaluable in assisting him in developing a business model which can deliver on quality, durability and cost!
We were one of the first builders to make the energy star certification part of our standard.
Emax is a low volume builder averaging 10 units per year. We focus more on building relationships with our trades rather than saving a few dollars on the lowest bidder. This allows us to ensure that all stages of construction are done the way Walter wants which is frequently different than standard industry practice.
Whether it’s your first or last one, let us build you a home you can enjoy for many years and be proud of!
